Saffron is considered the world’s most expensive spice. It originates in Iran and Afghanistan. It comes from the stigmas of the Crocus Sativus flower also known as the saffron crocus. Each flower usually produces 3 trumpet-shaped stigmas which are collected and dried.

We are a small family-owned company based in Bulgaria. All our saffron is hand picked, dried and packaged on site, our crops are looked after on a regular basis in order to achieve the highest quality saffron.
All our saffron is grown in sunny Bulgaria, hand picked, dried and packaged on site, our crops are looked after on a regular basis in order to achieve the highest quality saffron. However, you can grow saffron pretty much anywhere in the world with a medium to cool climates in a sunny spot.
The saffron bulbs(croms) can be planted in the summer and will flower in autumn around early November. It likes a well drained soil and a sunny place but otherwise is very unpretentious plant.
